Who is Jesus Christ?

Key text: John 17:3 – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
- We must know Jesus Christ before we could preach him without being ashamed.
- 2 Timothy 1:11, 12
- 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
- For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

- Who is Jesus Christ? What should we know and believe concerning Him?
- We must know and believe that Jesus is the only Saviour of the world
- Luke 4:14-18 – Jesus was anointed to preach the gospel
- John 4:39-43 – Jesus preach to the Samaritans concerning Himself that He is the Saviour of the world.
- 1 John 4:14 – Apostle John preach that Jesus is Saviour of the World
- 1 Timothy 4:10 – Apostle Paul preached that Jesus is Savior of all men.
- John 12:47 –Jesus came from heaven with the specific mission to save the world
- Acts 4:8-10 – Jesus is the only Saviour of men
- We must know and believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
- John 14:1, 6 – we need to believe in Jesus. He is the way, the truth and the life.
- John 8:32-36 – Jesus is the truth that could set us free from the bondage of sin (v. 34).
- We must know and believe that He is the only mediator between God and man
- 1 Timothy 2:5, 6 – no man can go to the Father except through Christ
- John 14:13, 14 – so when we ask anything from the Father we must ask in the name of Jesus.
- We must know and believe that He is the son of God
- John 10:36 – Jesus said He is the son of God.
- Matthew 3:16, 17 – God the father said Jesus is his beloved son.
- Luke 1:30-35 – In the New Testament Christ was called the son of God because he was conceived in the womb of Mary by the power of God the Holy Spirit.
- Psalms 2:7, 8 – God the Father made a decree that Jesus is His begotten son.
- Acts 13:32-35 – The declaration “thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee” was actually fulfilled when God raised Jesus from the dead.
- Revelation 1:5 – Christ was begotten of the Father from the dead when he raised him to eternal life.
- Romans 1:4 – Jesus being declared the son of God is connected with his resurrection from the dead.
- 1 John 4:15 – we must believe that Jesus is the son of God.
- We must know and believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ.
- Daniel 9:25, 26 – Daniel prophesied of the Messiah to come.
- John 1:41 – The equivalent of the Hebrew word Messiah in the Greek is Christ. Messiah or Christ means the anointed one.
- Matthew 16:13-17 – God the Father has revealed to Apostle Peter that Jesus is the Christ, the promised Messiah to come.
- Mark 14:61-64 – Jesus was condemned to die because he claimed that He is the Christ, the Son of God.
- John 4:42 – Like the Samaritans we must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
- John 10:23-27 – We should not be like the Jews in Jerusalem that did not believe Jesus is the Christ even though Jesus told them that He is the Christ.
- John 20:30, 31 – The book of John was written specifically to make us believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
- 1 John 5:1 – We must believe that Jesus is the Christ if we are to be born again of God.
- We must know and believe that Jesus is Lord and He is God like our Father in heaven, and that He existed in the form of God before he become man.
- John 13:13, 14 – Jesus teaches His disciples that He is Lord.
- John 20:28 – Thomas confessed that Jesus is both Lord and God.
- Titus 2:13 – Paul knew and believe that Jesus our Saviour is the Great God.
- Philippians 2:7-8 – Jesus was in very nature God (see NIV), equal with God the Father, but He humble Himself and was made in the likeness of men and live as a man.
- 1 Timothy 3:16 – Jesus was God manifest in the flesh.
- Galatians 4:4-7 – the reason why Jesus was made flesh and was born of a woman, was in order to redeem us, that we might receive the adoption as sons, and made us heirs of God through him.
- John 10:31-36; 19:7 – Jesus was crucified for claiming to be God like his Father.
- John 8:56-58 – As God, Jesus existed before Abraham
- John 17:1-5 – Jesus as God existed with the Father before the creation of the world.
- Acts 16:30, 31 – We must know and believe that Jesus is both Lord and God if we are to be saved
- We must know and believe that Jesus is God Almighty, the creator of the heaven and the Earth.
- Hebrews 1:8-12 – God the Father testified that His son Jesus is Lord and God, the God who created the heaven and the earth.
- Colossians 1:15-18 – Paul knew and believe that Jesus as God is our Creator, the one who created all things, visible and invisible…
- John 1:1-3, 14 – John also came to know and believe that all things were made by Jesus. He is the Word (Rev. 19:13) that was in the beginning with God the Father and was by nature God like the Father, but later was made flesh and was known as the begotten son of God.
- Revelation 1:8-18 – Jesus could create the heavens and the earth because he is God Almighty, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
- John 6:38-40 – Christ has power to resurrect the dead
- John 11:25, 26 – He is the resurrection and the life
- 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 – Christ has power to make our mortal body immortal
III. We are to make sure that the one we believe as our personal Lord and Saviour is the true Christ
- 2 Peter 2:1 – Beware of false prophets and false teachers who are out to deceive people with damnable heresies.
- Galatians 1:6-8 – Beware of those who preach another gospel that is different from the original gospel preached by the apostles.
- 2 Corinthians 11:1-4 – the preaching of another gospel means the preaching of another Jesus that is different from the true Christ, the Saviour of the World.
- Acts 17:10, 11 – Be open minded. Study your Bible daily to see if the Christ you believe is the true Christ, the Saviour of the world.
